Philly Cheeseburger

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients and directions for this recipe

1 1/4 lb Ground beef, lean 1 Red onion, sliced
Salt, to taste, Optional 2 Garlic cloves, minced
Black pepper, fresh ground, 1/2 ts Orageno, dried, crumbled
-Optional 1 tb Parsley, minced
1 tb Olive oil 8 Slices Provolone cheese
1/2 Red bell pepper, sliced Sweet pickle relish
1/2 Green bell pepper, sliced 4 French rolls, split

1. Preheat broiler according to manufacturer's directions. As
broiler heats, season meat with salt and pepper, if desired. Shape
into 4 patties. (For thin hamburgers, place patties between 2 sheets
of waxed paper and flatten with a rolling pin.)
2. Place patties on a lightly greased rack of broiler pan and broil 4
inches from heat until desired doneness is reached. The timing will
vary with the thickness of the hamburgers.
3. In a medium frying pan, heat olive oil. Add red and green bell
pepper, red onion and garlic. Saute until limp. Stir in orageno and
parsley.
4. Top the upper half of each roll with 2 slices of Provolone cheese.
Place in broiler with the hamburgers during last 1 1/2 minutes of
broiling until cheese is melted. Dress the lower half of the roll
with sweet pickle relish, add hamburger, and top burger with pepper
mixture, and cover with the half of the roll with the melted cheese.
